The Portative - a portable instrument with two distinctive styles of voicing to provide the flexibility required for many forms of accompaniment and early music performance. For the smaller church or chapel requiring a craftsman built smaller instrument (without Pedals) for worship, weddings, funerals etc. Suitable for the experienced organist or volunteer pianist. For choral accompaniment or those wishing to play early music on an appropriate instrument at home or at concerts.
The Portative A serious consideration as an alternative to organ hire, whilst a pipe organ is restored.
In a beautifully hand-crafted cabinet and utilising the latest sound generation technology, nothing has been spared to make the Portative the finest pipeless instrument of its type.
The attention to detail and quality of materials are immediately clear on your first encounter. The 54 note keyboard has a positive feel with a top resistance. Five turned wooden drawstops provide stop control with a smooth toggle action. The paneling on the back and sides is inset with fretwork to hide the internal audio system and Birds-Eye-Maple veneering finishes the top panels on the ends.
The in-built audio system is powerful enough to use in large choral situations whilst a discrete volume control allows the organist to reduce the level where required. The loudspeakers are carefully placed and disguised so that no single point of sound is obvious to the listener.
